Born in Livingston, New Jersey and raised in Miami, Florida, I am the second and youngest son of two Cuban immigrants. Situated somewhere inside the cross-culture of an immigrant surname, single parentage, and idyllic suburbanism, my political socialization is predictably unpredictable.
I am currently an undergraduate student at the University of Miami with dual concentrations in Economics and Mathematics. I also read independently in international affairs, history, and philosophy. I like to approach each discipline with a curiosity that is irrespective of orthodoxy, whether conservative or liberal. I’m especially wary when these arguments are presented as right in and of themselves; premises, I feel, should always be logically deduced or warranted, at least as often as conclusions.
It is my hope, then, that my personal and professional education merge and converge into a fresh, reasoned, and readable perspective on current events – at least fresh, reasoned, and readable enough to contribute alongside the other blogs from which I draw my inspiration.
